Sleigh bells and Snowflakes

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens,
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens.
Brown paper packages tied up with strings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels,
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles.
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes.
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes.
Silver white winters that melt into springs,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Robb used to point his finger with indignance at the car radio when this song came on during the Christmas season.

“Not a Christmas song!” he would rant.  “Just because it mentions sleigh bells and snowflakes does not mean it is a Christmas song!”

I heard it playing in the grocery store this week.  My first thought was, “That’s odd that they’re playing Christmas songs in July.”

And then I could recall Robb shaking his fist in the air and saying, “No, it’s not odd – because it’s not a Christmas song!”

He had a strong point.  :)

  1. I always think of ‘Sound of Music’ when I hear that song. I agree with Robb.
